Abattoir Waste Management

Animal Waste & By-Product Removal

Our modern fleet collects and transports animal by-products.

Abattoir wastes have been historically processed on-site or disposed of.

Increasingly though, commercial opportunities are emerging for abattoir waste and external operations are being established – away from the abattoirs.

In 15 years alone, this has driven a 14,300% increase in the volume of abattoir waste requiring transportation to these external processing facilities.

In 2005, Hardline was transporting approximately 7 tonnes of bone meal each day. By 2020, that number has risen to more than 1,000 tonnes.

This type of waste however, presents a higher environmental risk than other organic wastes.

Consequently, it must be transported and tracked in line with several significant health and bio-security regulations including the Environment Protection Act 1970 (EP Act) and Environment Protection (Industrial Waste Resource) Regulations 2009 (IWR Regulations).
